Year Round Destination

Because the Galapagos Islands have a consistently moderate climate, cruise ships are able to operate there all year long. The islands are located directly under the equator and trade winds and ocean conditions largely govern temperature. Generally, December to June is warm and characterized by rainfall, though there are also plenty of clear, sunny days. The ocean waters are also warmer during this time. The cooler, dryer months roughly encompass June to December. This is often called the garua season after the mists that form in the elevated areas of the islands. Both seasons are favorable for touring and for observing nature and wildlife. Most of the birds on the islands nest year-round so no matter when you go, you can expect to see courtship, mating and chicks being hatched and reared.

Note: The above chart gives temperature averages and details for the Galapagos Islands throughout the year, so that you can better plan your Galapagos vacation.
The Galapagos Islands are located close to the Ecuador and the climate is sub-tropical topical, this allows cruise to operate on a year round basis. The temperatures are generally determined entirely by the ocean currents which are most often influenced by the trade winds. Generally, December through May is more often warm and sunny in the Galapagos Islands; June to November are, generally cool and breezy. This make the Galapagos a great destination for Galapagos bird watching.
